I've been a huge fanboy of the game Genetos, which lets you play through the history of shmups (yes, the game is innovative as that sounds.....). The developer has stated in his diary that the next generation is coming soon. It features background shifting (as in Ikaruga I assume) and homing lasers for big combos. I can't wait, this project keeps getting better.
